The short, honest version
We run this site the way we’d want sites run for us: no surveillance, no data selling, nothing collected that we don’t need.
Privacy policy
What we collect: almost nothing. We use privacy-friendly analytics (GoatCounter) to count page views and see which guides are useful. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint you, and does not follow you across the web. We do not sell visitor data — there is nothing to sell.
Email: if you write to us or join The Midwest Postcard newsletter, we keep your address for that purpose only, and you can leave at any time.
Third parties: some pages load resources from third parties to work — Google Fonts (typefaces), OpenStreetMap (map tiles), Open-Meteo (weather), TheNewsAPI (news headlines), and Leaflet via a CDN. Each receives the technical request data any web server receives. Outbound booking links go to the relevant travel sites, which have their own privacy policies — affiliate links are labelled.
Cookies & local storage
We set no advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser’s local storage is used only for your own convenience — remembering checklist ticks, cached weather and news data, and design preferences. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it entirely.
Advertising policy
If display advertising is introduced, it will be clearly labelled, kept away from editorial judgements, and filtered to exclude categories that could cause confusion with unrelated businesses sharing the Momence name — including booking, scheduling and studio-management software. No pay-per-click parking, ever.
